GREG NORMAN NEWS
Mailbag: Senior Open Championship
- Greg, your fans love watching you so much, the joy is not in the final outcome, the joy is just seeing you play.
- Ruthy, Edina, MN
- Bummer with that evil putter today, Greg. Just forget about this one and go win the one you need to win, the US SENIOR OPEN...grind out good scores and blow the field away...then, this will qualify you for the US OPEN at PEBBLE PEACH...Good luck.
- Mark, Hollywood
- Greg mate, sorry for you to have missed out today...but you played a great tourney and just know that so many people enjoyed your sub par scoring, the saves, the birdies etc...it looked so frustrating on the back 9 today as all those great drives only lead to unrewarded missed putts. Another fan wrote a few days ago, that you should start playing 20 tournaments a year and I thought to myself 'ye right with his schedule', but you have said yourself that is what brings back the good putting, so let me humbly suggest that you do try and play more often in tournaments, coz' you can still whack it a mile and your overall play is fair dinkum solid...add two putts falling today or a couple of 3 putts eliminated this week and you come to 17 not feeling desperate and probably birdie it or 18 to make the playoff... Anyway mate, good luck in Indiana and thanks for some good entertainemnt this week... Cheers
- Rabbi Dave, Spring Valley, NY
- Greg, chin up and on to Crooked Stick just like in '95 after the brutal U.S. Open at Shinnecock....the next week you won at Hartford on your way to Player of the Year!
- Jean-Daniel, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
- The law of averages dictates that you will actually WIN one of these things! For as little as you've played in recent years, you are proving week after week that you can compete with anyone at anytime. Most guys play a whole lot more and don't get the change to even smell victory! You have been so close, so often! Hope you are having FUN! Great play this week!
- Ann, Baton Rouge, LA
- Greg, we love you anyway. There will be another day so successful as you wish. All the best for the next try!
- Christiana, Vienna, Austria
- Win it for you, your family and us! GO SHARK!
- Julian, UK
- Play your game Greg and it is all yours! Good Luck and have fun!
- Ryan, Houston, Texas
- Good luck in the last round Greg. Its been too long between drinks. Can't wait to see you lift the trophy. You are an inspiration mate. See you in Sydney later in the year. Cheers.
- Garry, Redmond, OR, USA
- Greg, I can tell it's your time to win your first Senior Open Championship! You've been patient and you deserve it. Just play within yourself and enjoy the walk to victory!
- Jim, Houston, Texas
- Congrats Greg on a great bogey free round today. Keep up the heat on your competition and remember "ATTACK Life" tomorrow.
- Clayton, Concord, NC
- The proof you need Greg, is in all the birdies you are making. Win this thing going away, win next week, and start planning ahead for a Championship year next year, when the US OPEN at Pebble Beach, THE BRITISH OPEN at St. Andrews, and a MASTERS invite will all be in your sights. Good to see you lighting it up, buddy. Good luck.
- Mark, Hollywood, CA

- Been a BIG fan of yours for a long time now. My kids are huge fans also. My daughter did a school project about you on the most 'influential' people and you signed it at the Aus Open at Royal Sydney a couple of years back. In the same tournamnet you walked off the 10th green, tapped my then 9 year old son on the shoulder and gave him your ball which he treasures. Someone was watching because on the 11th par 4 you hit your second shot with a wedge right in the hole. You then threw that ball to a young kid. That means so much to our kids who we tell how great you were in your prime. Can't wait for you to play the next 3 opens at NSW, we'll be there. Go get'em this week at Sunningdale and next week at the US Open.
- Andrew, Sydney
- Best of luck to you this week...my household will be rooting for you. Nothing but 'Greg Norman' wine will be drank this week, in your honor. Your swing is just as good as it was, 20 years ago and I, like you, have been swinging better since I found the love of my life :-) It's amazing how the support of a wonderful woman can improve your golf swing...I've broken 80, twice this year. Haven't done that since my early 20's. We watched your segment on 'Golf in America' last night and can see how incredibly happy you both are. Congratulations on finding happiness and finding more greens in regulation! Best of luck this week...the Hazelriggs will be raising a glass of your Shiraz in celebration of every good shot.
- D. Hazelrigg, Columbia, MO
- You've won 91 times including 2 Opens. You have the experience and the desire never goes away so kick ass and take names.
- Garth, Ontario
- Greg mate, rough trot at Turnberry, that's how it goes. Just thought I'd share this with you... I was on the range shortly after you finished the second round. A guy there who knows I'm a big Shark fan asked me if you made the cut...after I told him no he says to his mate, 'Geez Norman must be devastated after all the build up', his friend replied, 'I bet you if Greg Norman was here the last thing he'd tell you is that he's devastated, he's a man with his head on right, he'd tell ya, I have a beautiful wife, great kids and my health, what's to be devastated about?' Twas' well said... Good luck for Sunningdale, will be waking up to see a sub par round one and watching the second round on the telly as you light it up like the old days... Carn the Shark!
- Rabbi Dave, Spring Valley, NY

- Shark. Go light up it with Tom Watson and get off to a great tournament with a couple of big rounds. Talk it up amongst yourselves, and convince each other that you can do it next year at St. Andrews or at Augusta! Good luck, and make sure you play more tournaments in the next years before it is too late. Get a win in the next two weeks, Norman, and make the US OPEN again!
- Mark, Hollywood, CA
- Go get 'em Shark. Remember the '86 European Open!
- Bruce, Granby, CT
